Central Europe Programme for energy efficiency

After almost a year of preparatory work and negotiations, the Central Europe Programme launched its project in January 2012. The project is called "Demonstration of energy efficiency and utilization of renewable energy sources through public buildings".

The European Union pays great attention to solve the problem of low energy-efficiency buildings. The European Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC) and the Directive on the energy performance of buildings (2002/91/EC) constitute a fundamental basis for our programs connected with renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

The project is running under the supervision of the Austrian Regionalentwicklung Vorarlberg as Lead Partner, and includes seven countries from Central and Eastern Europe such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia and these countries are represented by with 12 institutions as project partners. One of the main objective for the participants is knowledge sharing based on diverse international experience and expertise in order to find energy-efficient solutions and best practices.

To achieve, implement and create international basis and harmonization of certification methods for building’s energy efficiency, testing approximately zero energy installations, presentation and practice of such best examples all contribute to the goals of the project and bring us closer to the practical approach of energy efficiency.

Trainings are also provided for project partners to discuss topics related to continuous development of standard creation and share practical experiences.

The Ministry of National Development participates in the project in cooperation with the ÉMI Non-profit Limited Liability Company for Quality Control and Innovation in Building which is the largest, testing, certifying professional, innovative institution in complex construction and building material industry in Hungary. The institution is member of several European and international organizations, which provides many highly qualified experts to help project related R&D tasks in Hungary.
